Maddi Jane Brown is a visual storyteller and photojournalist. Her personal work engages with the environment, presenting the natural world in an artful and informative way. In her documentary and visual journalism work, Maddi has produced work on politics, local news, and DIY music scenes.
For the past year, Maddi has been a freelance contributor to the Central Current, a non-profit newsroom in Central New York, where she has produced visuals for in-depth local reporting. She also has experience writing stories.
As a graduate of Syracuse University, Maddi holds a B.S. in Photography. On campus she was engaged in multiple extracurriculars in the visual communications field. She was the president of the Syracuse chapter of the National Press Photographers Association, a staff photographer for the Daily Orange, a consistent contributor for The NewsHouse digital publication, and also photo editor for 20 Watts music magazine.
In her free time, Maddi collages and takes care of her three parakeets.
